WAT'S IN A NAME ???

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” says Juliet in William Shakespeare’s tragedy 'Romeo and Juliet'. This statement brings out a very simple meaning which is that it is not the name that counts but rather the purpose. We, the founders of www.bucketbolt.com, have only exemplified this statement.
During the various seminars and meetings that we have attended, almost every time we are cornered by somebody who, out of sheer curiosity wants to know,”Why BUCKETBOLT? What does it mean? How is it related to what you are doing?” To which we merely say,” It has everything to do what we do.” And we leave the enquirer puzzled. Please do not mistake us to be downright arrogant. We do not answer because we do not have an answer.
Yes!! It is true. There is and can never be an answer to this question ever. Then one might wonder then why choose such a domain name at all? There could have been so many ‘sensible’ names. We agree and we don’t. Here’s why.
We first got an idea to start the company in early in 2010. The first thing we did was list down all that we would need to worry about. Deciding a domain name was nowhere on the priority list. We would spend time pondering over various names that we could muster throughout the day. This didn’t use much of our time; all we had to do was keep a lookout for any ‘funky and whacky’ words or phrases. We wanted a name like ‘google’ or ‘yahoo’, just thinking of which brings only one picture.
Every day we discussed, argued and ruled out more names than the previous day; this process continued for almost a month. Finally the eureka moment arrived. Akash came up with the name ‘utopiangeeks.com’ by linking a geek to have come from utopia; Kashyap immediately bought the domain name. But moment of joy was short lived: No sooner had Kashyap bought the domain did they realise that the name was not at all comfortable to the masses (in this case our juniors). Most of them didn’t know how to spell it while others found it odd to pronounce. Now this was not thought about at all, it only meant one thing: we were back where we started.
The failure of utopiangeeks had hit us pretty hard right in the belly. It taught us the phrase very commonly said by Sherlock Holmes,” The smallest of the details are the most important ones.” By now we had everything almost ready; the website under construction and the supply chain set. The only thing remaining was marketing the website: But how could we market the site without a name? It was then we left all that we were doing to sit back and think of a name. This time our approach was different: We researched the reasons for the domain names of the greatest websites. We were finding the common string amongst them which would help us come up with our own name. Our findings astonished us; leaving a few, all the major websites had no nomenclatural reason behind it including APPLE and GOOGLE. They didn’t choose the name because it had anything to do with what they did, but rather blended the name brilliantly with what they did!!
That’s exactly when we understood what Shakespeare had tried to say. This enlightenment got Akash the name BUCKETBOLT while he was having a bath. He merely connected the word ‘bolt’ to the bucket right in front of him. And lo!! There it was. It was simply the perfect name: easy to spell, easy to pronounce and it also has an alliteration of the letter ‘B’, which studies show makes the name easy to remember. So what does this name have to do with what we are doing? We say,” Everything that apple has to do with ipods and amazon with novels.”
